Add/Issue an Appearance Bond

An Appearance Bond is a subsequent process issued upon release of a Defendant from jail. It documents details about the bond amount posted (if any) and the bondsmen posting the bond.

Once an initiating process has a status of Served and the case contains an issued Release Order, an Appearance Bond can be attached to the case and printed. Below are the steps.

Before you start:

  • Only users with the proper rights can add an Appearance Bond.

  • If the Release Condition from the associated Release Order is Unsecured, then an Appearance Bond is automatically created with the Defendant as the Bondsman and will print when the Release Order is printed. No manual entry of Appearance Bond data is necessary. Appearance Bonds for a Release Condition of Secured are added using the steps below.

  • An Appearance Bond cannot be added/issued on a Release Order with a Release Authorization of Not Authorized.

  • As with initiating processes, all details are not required information when first adding an Appearance Bond. This data can be entered whenever available and will be stored as an Incomplete Appearance Bond. To issue an Appearance Bond, however, requires certain information (detailed below).

  • When a 2nd or subsequent Appearance Bond is created on an existing case, the original (or preceding) Appearance Bond status will become Inactive.

  1. From the MAIN MENU, search for and retrieve the case that is to have an Appearance Bond attached, then click the APPEARANCE BOND tab from CASE SUMMARY TAB VIEW.

Note: A search by File Number is the most efficient method of searching for an initiating process.

Note: Another possible path is to click the Add Bond button directly from an issued RELEASE ORDER TAB VIEW.

    1. The APPEARANCE BOND tab displays. Click the Add Bond button.

    1. The APPEARANCE BOND TAB VIEW displays defaulted to the DEFENDANT tab.

    2. Click the BOND DETAIL tab. The required Release Condition and Bond Amount fields are defaulted from the Release Order.  If the defaulted details require edits, edit the bond.

    3. Form the BOND DETAIL tab, add the bondsman (or bondsmen).

Note: Data on the Defendant, Offenses, and Summary tabs is defaulted and cannot be edited or deleted from an Appearance Bond.
