Edit a Witness on a Process

Once a Witness is added to a process, under certain conditions it is possible to subsequently edit certain Witness information or assignment data. Below are the steps to edit the Witness information.

Before you start:

  • The ability to edit a Witness is based on the type and status of the process being edited and the user's role. If an edit is disallowed due to these conditions, the Edit Witness button will not display or an error message will display upon use of the button.

  • A Witness cannot be edited once a process has been issued (status = Unserved or Served).

  • Witness information can be edited only if the Witness is a Person or a Business. LEO information cannot be edited from a process (see Edit LEO Details).

  • For Person Witnesses, the Name fields cannot be edited. DMV, Race, Sex, Ethnicity, DOB, Age, and SSN data can be updated if blank or Unknown. The Address fields will accept any edits. Edits of any fields will affect only the Master Person record and the current process.

  • For Business Witnesses, the Name fields cannot be edited. All other fields are available for edits.

    1. Search for the process on which the Witness is to be edited.

    2. The PROCESS TAB VIEW of the process displays, defaulted to the SUMMARY tab. Click the witness tab.

    1. The WITNESS tab displays with all Witnesses attached to the process. Select the radio button of the Witness to be edited and click the Edit Witness button.

    2. The DETAILS screen displays based on the Participant Type (Person, Business). Below are the available fields for a Person Witness record:

Note: All Business Witness fields are available for edits per the normal rules, except for the Name fields. See Edit Business Details for Help on this subject.

Edit the Witness details and click the Edit button.
