Edit Witness Assignment on a Process

Once a Witness is added to a process, under certain circumstances it is possible to subsequently edit the Witness information or assignment data (including Subpoenas). Below are the steps to edit the assignment data.

Before you start:

  • The ability to edit Witness data is based on the type and status of the process being edited and the user's role. If an edit is disallowed due to these conditions, the Edit Witness Assignment button will not display or an error message will display upon use of the button.

  • Witness assignment data can be edited on a process of any status.

  • A Subpoena for a Witness can be issued only at the time the initiating process is being issued.

  • A LEO Witness can only be added to a process as an Active, State Witness (unless flagged as an Additional Complainant).

  • A LEO Witness cannot be a Witness and a Victim simultaneously.

  • When adding a Subpoena for a Business Witness, the Subpoena will be generated on the Contact name.

    1. Search for the process on which the Witness assignment is to be edited.

    2. The PROCESS TAB VIEW of the process displays, defaulted to the SUMMARY tab. Click the WITNESS tab.

    1. The WITNESS tab displays. Select the radio button of the Witness to be edited and click the Edit Witness Assignment button.

    2. The WITNESS ASSIGNMENT screen displays. These are fields available for edits:

Subpoenas

Appear and Testify before the court,  Appear and Testify at deposition,  Appear and Produce, Additional notes regarding when to appear,  Other Instructions,  Print County Specific Instructions

    1. After completing the edits to the WITNESS ASSIGNMENT screen, click the Edit button.

The WITNESS tab returns with the edits made in the WITNESS ASSIGNMENT screen displayed.

Note: If Generate Subpoena was selected, the Subpoena(s) will generate automatically when the initiating process is issued. Once generated, a Subpoena can be printed along with the initiating process, and details can be viewed on the SUBPOENA tab of the CASE SUMMARY TAB VIEW.
