Edit a Complainant on a Process

Once a Complainant is added to a process, under certain conditions it is possible to subsequently edit certain Complainant information or assignment data. Below are the steps to edit the Complainant information.

Before you start:

  • The ability to edit a Complainant is based on the type and status of the process being edited and the user's role. If an edit is disallowed due to these conditions, the Edit Complainant button will not display or an error message will display upon use of the button.

  • Complainants cannot be edited once a process has been issued (status = Unserved or Served).

  • Complainant information can be edited only if the Complainant is a Person or a Business. LEO information cannot be edited from a process (see Edit LEO Details).

  • For Person Complainants, the Name fields cannot be edited. DMV, Race, Sex, Ethnicity, DOB, Age, and SSN data can be updated if blank or Unknown. The Address fields will accept any edits. Edits of any fields will affect only the Master Person record and the current process.

  • For Business Complainants, the Name fields cannot be edited. All other fields are available for edits.

    1. Search for the process on which the Complainant is to be edited.

    2. The PROCESS TAB VIEW of the process displays, defaulted to the SUMMARY tab. Click the COMPLAINANT tab.

    1. The COMPLAINANT tab displays. Click the Edit Complainant button.

    2. The DETAILS screen displays based on the Participant Type (Person, Business). Below are the available fields for a Person Complainant record:

Note: All Business Complainant fields are available for edits per the normal rules, except for the Name fields. See Edit Business Details for Help on this subject.

Edit the Complainant details and click the Edit button.
