Add a General Citation

The following are the steps to add (pre-enter) a Magistrate Order based on a General Citation to NCAWARE. Most of the functions are common to all processes (Warrants, Summons, Orders, and Citations). Click on the provided links for further details.

Before you start:

  • Only users with the proper rights can pre-enter a General Citation.

  • Participants, Offenses, and Court Data are not required information when pre-entering a General Citation.

  • Only the first four steps must be executed in order. Once a Temporary File Number (TMP) is established, specific process information may be entered in any order.

    1. From the MAIN MENU, click the Add a Process link.

    2. The ADD A PROCESS menu displays. Select the Magistrate Order based on General Citation radio button and then select the Create A Process button.

    3. The OFFENSE DATE/TIME screen displays. Enter (or select) a value in the required Offense Date field, then enter a (required) Offense Time and select AM, PM, or MM.  After the Date/Time value(s) are entered, click the Submit button.

    1. The General Citation PROCESS TAB VIEW displays with an assigned Temporary File Number (TMP). The DEFENDANT tab displays by default.

    2. Add a Defendant to the process.

    3. Add Offenses (Charges) to the process.

    4. Add Citation Details to the process

    5. Add a Complainant to the process.

    6. Add Witnesses to the process.

    7. Add Court Info to the process.

    8. General process information can now be reviewed on the SUMMARY tab. To add or change Summary information, click the Edit Summary button. See Edit Summary for General Citation for additional Help.
