Edit Summary for Criminal Summons

The SUMMARY tab of a Criminal Summons contains a synopsis of process details. The SUMMARY tab can be used to view these details. Also, the SUMMARY tab allows for issuing a Criminal Summons and for editing the Summary details. Below are the steps to edit the Summary details.

Before you start:

  • If the Criminal Summons has a status of Served, then edits to the Summary tab are disallowed for all roles except a Full Clerk.

  • If the Criminal Summons has a status of Unserved, all fields are available for edits except for the Issuance fields and Offense Date(s).

  • If the Criminal Summons has a status of Unserved, the Summary may be edited by the issuing Magistrate, Proxies thereof, the LDA, or a Clerk.

    1. After searching for and retrieving a Criminal Summons, or adding a new Criminal Summons, the PROCESS TAB VIEW of the Criminal Summons will display. Click on the SUMMARY tab (if the process is retrieved from a search, this will be the default tab.)

Note: If the process status is Unserved or Served, the CASE SUMMARY TAB VIEW will display instead, defaulting to the ORIGINAL PROCESS tab. Click the View Process button from this tab. The PROCESS TAB VIEW of the Summons will then display, defaulted to the SUMMARY tab.

    1. The SUMMARY tab displays with all previously entered Summary information. Click the Edit Summary button.

    2. The SUMMARY DETAIL screen displays. These are the functions and fields available from the SUMMARY DETAIL screen:
