Note: The North Carolina General Assembly increased court costs effective December 1, 2020. If you were charged prior to December 1, 2020, then you will pay the old costs amount that appears on your citation unless you have failed to appear and more than 20 days have passed since that failure to appear. If you have failed to appear and more than 20 days have passed since that failure to appear, then you will pay the new costs amount plus the failure to appear fee. If you were charged on or after December 1, 2020, then you will pay the new costs amount. If you were charged on or after December 1, 2020, it is possible that the charging officer inadvertently may have listed the old costs amount on your citation.
