Search for an Offense from Main Menu

For research, review, and maintenance purposes, NCAWARE provides the ability for users to search for and display Offenses directly from the MAIN MENU. Below are the steps for retrieving Offenses both for review and maintenance purposes.

Before you start:

  • Offenses retrieved from the MAIN MENU for review purposes cannot be added to a process. Click the Related Topics button at the bottom of the page for Help with adding Offenses to processes.

  • An Offense search for review purposes will return all Statewide Offense Codes and any Local (99) Titles in the county of the user that match the search criteria.

  • Only Local Data Administrators (LDAs) are allowed to edit Offense Titles and this ability is restricted to Local (99) Offenses (note: The State System Administrator (SSA) can edit any Offense.)

  1. From the MAIN MENU, click the Offense Codes link (or for Local [99] Title maintenance, click the Offense Code Maintenance link).

  2. The OFFENSE SEARCH screen displays. There are various "filters" (user-entered data that will limit and sort search results) to place on a search:

Select a required County and then enter at least one of the following: a Law Type of Common Law or Local Ordinance, Statute/Code, AOC Offense Code, and/or a Keyword.

Once the filter fields are entered, click the Search button.

  1. The OFFENSE SEARCH RESULTS screen displays with the returned records.

Note: If the Offense Code Maintenance link was selected, then only Local (99) Offense Titles that match the search criteria will display in the OFFENSE SEARCH RESULTS screen.
