About NCAWARE

For information concerning the background and overall functions and processes of NCAWARE, see About NCAWARE.

Basic Information

Before using NCAWARE, take a few moments to (re)familiarize yourself with the Overview of Standard Functions, which documents basic NCAWARE screen functions (button controls, navigation, etc.), and the Help Manual Basics topic, which demonstrates how to efficiently use NCAWARE on-line Help. These important topics were included in your NCAWARE training, but a review will be beneficial.

Roles and Rights

Another important topic to review prior to logging into NCAWARE is Roles and Rights. Every NCAWARE User ID has an assigned role. The basic roles are Clerk, District Attorney, Magistrate, Judge, Law Enforcement Officer (LEO), Support, Inquiry, and Administrator, with several sub-classifications. Also, most agencies will have someone assigned the additional role of Local Data Administrator (LDA). The abilities and limitations ("rights") of a specific User ID in NCAWARE are based exclusively on the assigned role.

Logging In

The first screen that displays after logging into NCAWARE is the MAIN MENU. This screen is the portal to all NCAWARE functions and processes to which your role allows access.

Note: If this is your initial log in and you have not set your User Defaults, you will be automatically directed to the USER DEFAULTS screen to do so. The MAIN MENU will automatically display once these are submitted.  You cannot access the MAIN MENU until User Defaults have been set.

Once the MAIN MENU is displayed, you're ready to begin your NCAWARE session.
