The two Person records selected for a merge must pre-exist in the database.

When submitting a Merge Request
 

 

The two Person records selected for a merge cannot be the same Person record.

In this scenario, display the following message, Error: The Person Record selected for ‘Into’ is the same as the person selected in ‘Merge this Record.’

Two Person records cannot be merged if they have different SID Numbers.

Display message, Error: Records with different SID Numbers cannot be merged. Contact the SBI Identification Division to request a correction to the record.

When submitting a Merge Request where the Merge record has a SID Number but the Into record does not
 

 

The system will swap the names around and perform merge.

 

 The defendant Master Name record with the SID will display on the right side of the ‘Person Merge Request’ screen labeled “Into” and the defendant ‘Master Name’ record without the SID will display in the “Merge this Record” field and will become combined with the defendant Master Name record with the SID once merged.

 

Display a warning message, “Your Person Merge Request will be submitted as, Person Y into Person X with SID#”. Note: When the records are swapped on the ‘Person Merge Request’ Screen, disable/hide the CLEAR and SEARCH FOR PERSON buttons.

The status changes according to the state diagram in Appendix B.  See the current status and the action applied to determine the new status.  The diagram also indicates whether there should be a change in the merge state of the requested person or business records - there can be no change, a merge, or an undo merge.

Display an error that "Persons cannot be merged because <PID Agency> has identified these two persons to be distinct individuals. PID #1: <PID1>; PID #2: <PID2>."

Display an error, "Persons cannot be merged because another person record with the same <PID Agency> PID number, <PID>, has been positively identified by the SBI with a different SID number, <SID2>. The merged person record would have SID number, <SID1>. Two person records must not be positively identified as being the same by PID number and, at the same time, positively identified to be distinct by SID number."
