When adding an Offense to a Process
 

 

The format for Offense 1, 2, or 3 is as follows: "<Process Type preamble> <Offense Type preamble> <Offense Charging Text>"      
 

PROCESS TYPE PREAMBLE SECTION

          Warrant for Arrest: I, the undersigned, find that there is probable cause to believe that on or about the date of offense shown and in the county named above the defendant named above

         Magistrate Order: I, the undersigned, find that the defendant named above has been arrested without a warrant and the defendant's detention is justified because there is probable cause to believe that on or about the date of offense shown and in the county named above the defendant named above

         Criminal Summons: I, the undersigned, find that there is probable cause to believe that on or about the date of offense shown and in the county named above you

         Felony: unlawfully, willfully and feloniously

         Misdemeanor: unlawfully and willfully did

When adding an Offense to a Process
 

 

An offense code must have charging text.  Display error message: “Charging text must be entered”.

When the search criteria matches more than 250 records from the database
 

 

The search result screen will display an informational message. “Search Results exceeds 250 records. Use additional search criteria to narrow results.”

Search results will include all statewide offense titles and any county specific '99' titles for the county specified that are valid for the effective dates of the offense on the process.  Each title will be listed in the results separately.

The offense can only be a Misdemeanor, Traffic or Infraction.

One or more of the following must be entered:  Law Type of Common Law or Local Ordinance, Statute/ Code, AOC Offense Code or Keywords.  If the user at least one of these values, then display the message, “Please enter a Law Type of Common Law or Local Ordinance, Statute/Code, Offense Code or Keyword.”

The attributes defined for the '99' title template that match the Offense Type of the new offense and that have an availability of “Automatic” will be added to the new offense with the jurisdiction set to “County” with the current county selected and the Effective From/Thru date set to Unknown.

Select the charging text if one exists that fits within the offense start and end date OR just use the title as one published without text.

The offense will be created based on the '99' template and the Offense Effective from and thru date will be derived from the Template effective from and thru date.

Since the effective from and through dates cannot be set by the user, default these to “Not Specified”.
